The surface of the black quartz stone Doradus, which surrounds the cooking block placed in the centre of the room, is reminiscent of the night sky. The glass cabinet and the suspended island canopy hover in the room like planets and are grounded by the solitaire furniture made of glass. The compartments inside, with their dark veneer surfaces, provide a warm contrast as well as storage space for dishes and supplies.
